Sam Edmonds, Quark Expeditions Guide and photographer, took these images from a helicopter along the Eastern coastline between Cape Adare and the Cooperation Sea, in the austral summer of 2016/17. His background as a camera operator and photographer in the Antarctic gave him a unique opportunity to see the continent from the air. Across both Polar Regions, ice cover has become an important way to measure the impact of global warming in these frigid landscapes.
