"Jumping into the weekend like… 👋
Jan and I are officially “bipolar” plungers - we’ve done the polar plunge in both the Antarctic and Arctic waters.
This Polar Plunge was very different than how we did it in Antarctica where we had a rocky beach to enter the frigid waters…and it was a nice sunny “summer” day where we warmed up next to penguins.
This plunge was legit - it took place at just shy of 80 Degrees North (10 degrees latitude away from the North Pole) and, in true Arctic fashion, it was snowing during our plunge, so this was FAR from a day at the beach!
To be honest, I preferred this plunge where you jump from the zodiac straight into the water - in, out, done! The best part of this plunge experience is there are hot tubs on board, so we thawed out in no time with views of the sea ice and arctic birds swooping by.
I’m so happy Jan decided to take the plunge - he can’t swim, but went for it knowing you are literally tied to the boat with help standing right there if needed.
Just another reminder to do the things that scare you because that’s when you really live life to its fullest.
What’s one thing you were scared to do while traveling but are so happy you did it anyway?" A repost from Susie Chau (@carpediemtraveler) on her recent Spitsbergen Expedition.
