Our guests were the first expedition travelers to make it to the #NorthPole this year! 🌎
We encountered heavy ice conditions on the final stretch to the North Pole, but the highly capable ship, its crew and our Expedition Team persevered, getting our guests to 90°N just after midnight on June 19th. This voyage marks our 60th successful expedition to the North Pole, more than any other polar expedition operator.
A celebratory toast and lunch was served on the ice; a great weather window meant successful operations of our hot air ballooning adventure option, as well. Travelling to North Pole in June means our guests have a higher chance of seeing the majestic polar bear. We are super proud of our team for continuing Quark’s unprecedented success rate of reaching the North Pole!
We can't wait to share more stories and photos once the ship returns to port! 📸: 50 Years of Victory breaking ice on its way to the North Pole in 2017.
