Supporting Polar Research and Conservation has always been a part of our DNA. As part of the Polar Promise, we've committed to supporting these organizations with $500,000 annually. We provide free berths to conservation and scientific organizations, giving scientists access to remote regions to further their research. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from our onboard auctions are directed to these organizations. ⠀ ⠀ We raised $169,000 (since 2014) to support the South Georgia Habitat Restoration Project, whose goal was to restore the sub-Antarctic island to its original status as one of the world’s most important seabird sites. Funds were used for baiting during the eradication phase and to support rodent-detecting dogs for the current monitoring and maintenance phase.⠀ ⠀ In 2019, we participated in the inaugural year of the SeaGreen recycling initiative for Antarctic vessels, which diverted 647 cubic meters of recyclable material during the 2018/19 Antarctic season. We were responsible for 270 cubic meters of this total. This initiative also raised 120,000 pesos to assist Argentinians living with a disability. ⠀ ⠀ Making a positive impact on our guests, environment, and communities we visit through outreach, collaboration, and innovation are some of the tactics under our PARTNERSHIPS pillar of our sustainability strategy, which identifies measurable goals to be reached by 2025. ⠀ ⠀ Learn more about our Polar Promise, link in bio! 👆⠀ #TravelwithQuark #Sustainability #ResponsibleTourism
