It’s #PenguinAwarenessDay and we’re shining the spotlight on our partners at Penguin Watch (@penguin_watch)! 🐧🐧🐧 They are a research group based out of the University of Oxford (@oxford_uni) devoted to penguin conservation. Every year, they travel from colony to colony to carry out research on penguin populations. Wherever our passengers land in a colony, the #penguinologists deploy their timelapse monitoring cameras, fly a drone and take feather and guano samples to monitor penguins year-round and better understand how human threats to their ecosystem disrupt their dynamics. In collaboration with our team and fleet, they assess the status of six different species of penguins in more than one hundred colonies across the Scotia Arc, sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula year-round. We’ll be sharing more details about their work on our feed soon! Visit the link in our bio to learn more about their efforts and participate in their #citizenscience project by helping them count penguins! ☝️ 📸: @catiefoley from the Penguin Watch team in South Georgia. #TravelwithQuark #PenguinWatch #Penguins
