WHEN TO GO MAY TO JULY

Head north of the Arctic Circle through the icy channels of the legendary Northwest Passage, connect with indigenous cultures in Greenland, see iconic wildlife in Spitsbergen or have a drink at the North Pole. Choose from some of the most diverse Arctic adventures possible and discover what real expedition travel is all about. THE ARCTIC

This is an ideal time to head to the rugged terrain of Spitsbergen to encounter wildlife in their natural habitats, including the ever-elusive polar bear. JUNE & JULY The brief window for reaching the North Pole occurs during these months, while dramatic fjords also open up on the coasts of Greenland and the islands of the Canadian and Russian High Arctic. SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER A summer’s worth of newly calved icebergs glow in the sunset as the narrow channels of the Northwest Passage become navigable and the Northern Lights electrify the sky in Greenland.

WHEN TO GO NOVEMBER & DECEMBER

Cross the notorious Drake Passage by ship, then zip through icy bays on Zodiacs. Watch penguins put on their show, take photos of breathtaking, sculpture-like icebergs or kayak through the crystal- clear waters. With such an unexpected variety of experiences, setting foot on the 7th Continent is a bucket-list adventure just waiting to happen. ANTARCTICA

Pristine, white snow covers the Peninsula, enormous icebergs crowd the waters and penguins parade their courtship rituals in sprawling rookeries. DECEMBER TO FEBRUARY With the onset of summer, daylight lasts up to 22 hours, penguin colonies come alive with playful chicks, and humpback whales return to the surrounding waters. FEBRUARY TO APRIL Receding ice enables exploration past the Antarctic Circle, while penguin chicks shed their fluffy coats for waterproof adult feathers.

NORTH POLE: THE ULTIMATE ARCTIC ADVENTURE Crush through multi-year ice aboard 50 Years of Victory —one of the most powerful nuclear icebreakers in the world.
